Auto fan controller for Zalman 7000 AlCu and Intel P4

Post by dgersic » Tue May 23, 2006 6:32 pm

I'm looking for a recommendation for an auto speed controller for this combo. I'm generally happy with the setup (Intel mobo, P4 CPU, Zalman 7000 AlCu), except when the system gets busy and the CPU temperature rises.

I'm currently using the included Zalman controller, but don't really like having to turn the knob to change the fan speed.

You might want to look at Bluefront's Thread about the M-Cubed miniNG. It only supports 2 fans, so if you need more, they do a 4 fan controller called the T-Balancer which gets excellent reviews. Only problem is they aren't cheap.

Have you tried SpeedFan? It's free.

Ditto with the SpeedFan. I have a FanMaster but kept forgetting to turn it up while gaming. Not good. Just plug it into the mobo and let the sensors take over.

a) Nope. Running Linux, not Windows, so N/A there.

b) Using lm-sensors (Linux) to display the same sorts of stuff, but my motherboard doesn't support controlling the fan speed, only reporting it.

I saw that review. I'll give one of these a try. Two fans is plenty. I'm only running the CPU fan and the stock power supply fan anyway.
