fan-mates or sunbeam rheobus

Post by dinde » Sat Mar 15, 2003 10:05 am

im gonna have 3 fans in my case, and price isnt really the object. the thing is i wanna get it from newegg cuz i am ordering other stuff from there. i finalised my decision down to: 3 fan-mates (gonna also have to get a bunch of wire adapters and stuff) or the sunbeam rheobus. im leaning towards the rheobus, i was wondering if u guys thaught it was a good one. seems good from reviews.
this is the one im talking about, http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproduct.a ... on=rheobus
the 28$ one
also, on the rheobus, are there 3 pin connectors or wire connectors? cuz i read a review and it said there were 3 pin connectors (the reviews didnt even say if it was the 20 wat or the 17 wat model). but, on all of the pictures on newegg (17 and 20 wat models) there are wire connectors.

P.S im pretty sure 17 watts per channel is more than enough for a 120mm and 2*92mm L1A's. but im not the sharpest knife in the drawer so help me out :)

If you're talking about this one, those certainly are bare-wire connectors. I'd perfer that over 3-pin connectors because you don't have to worry about putting connectors on your wires.

I hope you already ordered it though, because Neweggs' website shows it as "out of stock". :(

naw, didnt order it. ill get the 3 pin version, with the color changing leds, from svc for 20 bucks. even though the shippings like 10 bucks, its still cheaper than the 35 + shipping from newegg.

Do you already have fans with 3-pin connectors on them? If not, where do you find 3-pin connectors?

Use AMP 770602-3 housings with 770666-1 contacts (you need 3 per connector). You can get them from www.digikey.com. Assembly can be done with crimpers (good) or needle-nose pliers (good enough).
