Need help w/ quiet cooling for Gainward MX-440

Post by snaimpally » Sun Mar 30, 2003 4:13 pm

I have a Gainward video card (650 XP Pro or something) using a GeForce 4 MX440. The fan is very loud.

Any suggestions? I have quieted all the other components (Seasonic PSU, NMB fans, Arctic Cooling CPU cooler) and need some help. Thanks!

You can try the Zalman ZM-50 HP. There's a larger version (80 HP and 80A HP). But since you have an MX card, the ZM-50 looks like it would be sufficient if you're on a budget.

Here's a link to the ZM 50:

The heat from the MX440 is pretty insignificant. You could easily get away with the ZM17 as well. More permanent, but I bet you could find it cheaper.

$5

SVC has both products. The ZM17 is $20 while the ZM80 is $25, only $5 more. The ZM80 looks massive and I'm concerned about room in the case. Might try the ZM17 since the ZM80 is likely overkill.

I was also thinking of just mounting an 80mm NMB fan in the next slot and have it blow air on the unplugged gpu fan (which has cooling fins) ...
