Chieftec AF-1225S----> Yate Loon D12SL-12

Post by ZMAJ » Mon Aug 13, 2007 9:01 am

Chieftec's AF-1225S is only rebranded Yate Loon D12SL-12 we have here in croatia.

So, does any1 has this Chieftec fan? Is it good like other rebranded YLs D12SL-12 (exp. nexus)

I've sent an e-mail to yate loon with question of starting voltage of D12SL-12 and they said this:

tart voltage of D12SL-12 : 6.5v (1350+/-10%rpm).
1000+/-10% rpm will be a little higher than 6.5v

I've also send e-mail to chieftec and they didn't know what is start volatge lol.

So this 6.5V confuses me becouse nexus's D12SL-12 start voltage is 5.5V.

Anyway, this fan I need for FAn swap on Fortron FSP400-60HLN.
So Im scary what if this fan never start spinning (on SPCR review of Fortron FSP400-60GLN there is written that fan controler starts fan @3.8V)

in some PSU's with temp controlled fans, if the fan wont start right away, the temp will rise causing the fan controller to increase voltage to the fan in a matter of seconds thus causing it to start.

If the fan does not start right away it may start within 15-30 seconds, either way it is not always bad for that to happen. My seasonic Super Tornado had its 12cm fan replaced with an panaflo L that would never start reliably until the PSU was on for a period of time. But once it started it never stopped again. It has ran that way for a couple of years.

hmm ok that's nice; I hope that my fan will do like that.

Now only remains question is this AF-1225S fan any good or Yate Loon is sending bad D12SL-12 fans to chieftec :)

i would imagine them to be decent. There are two variants of them, the ball barring and sleeve barring. The Sleeve barring will run quieter at lower voltage and is usaly preferable. I am willing to bet either to be better then what you currently have.

it is sleeve bearing.

I have written wrong up. I will not do a fan swap on FSP400-60GLN, but FSP400-60HLN.

I don't have PSU yet. I will buy it tomorow.

I can hardly imagine those chieftecs to be better then fan on my ninja (is it s-flex on ninja?)

the stock ninja fan is not an Sflex as far as i know. I think it is an NMB of some sort. Anyone else care to chime in and answer that? At least i think its decent for what it is. From what i hear the Yate Loon's and most likely the cheaftec rebranded fans are better then the stock skyth ninja fan. My two noctua fans are better by a noticeable amount, and the Yate-Loons and S-Flex are in the same league.

If you are ultimately worried about the Yate Loon not starting when the PSU powers on, the Stock ninja fan will Defenatly start at <5volts. However it wont be as good as the YateLoon rebrand.

I was under impression Ninja's stock fan was regular sleeve bearing.

here is the buty

I didnt put it in PSU yet but I've used it on MBO, Im very pleased with this fan. I've tryed it on 500/750/1000rpm and it has largest airflow of all fans I had (maybe not ninja's) with lowest noise

im glad first impressions are good! How is its noise signature compared to the stock ninja?

I have never tried a Yate Loon or S flex. My only experience is with Noctua.

noise is pretty the same

There can only be heard airflow... no vibrations or stuff like that
