Do fan isolators just "pop" in the screw holes?

I have a case fan that is not on the recommended list: an Enermax 80mm UC-8FAB. I want to see if I can quieten the vibrational noise it creates.

I thought about noise reduction washers found here at directron, but the advise in the forum seems to point toward grommets or fan isolaters (are these these the same thing?)

I see that Silicon Acoustics carry the fan isolators and from the picture they appear to just pop in and take the place of screws. Is this a correct assumption?

After trying fan isolators or grommets I will attempt to undervolt, but I want to see how well I can deal with the problem without undervolting first. In the end, I'll probably get a recommended fan to acheive the results I want, but why not go ahead and work with what I got first?

You may have to wedge them into the holes...it was too hard to resist.

Check out this thread for a little more info on use and mounting Fan Isolators experience (good report)

@aphonos, thanks for the link; most helpful.

@digitalix and aphonos: Do they create a small gap between the case and the fan once in place?

Yes, but only about a 1mm gap.
