Push-Pull Configuration - Queries?

Post by victorpst » Fri Nov 02, 2007 7:58 am

I have some queries about running fans in push pull configuration:-

1. Very roughly, how much increase in airflow can be expected if using two similar fans?

2. Roughly, how much is the increase in noise over running a single fan if a fan of same type is added?

3. What should be the ideal/minimum/maximum distabce between the two fans?

4. Any other advantages/disadvantages?

Actually I have created a duct for fitting a 120mm in three 5.25inch bays of my Antec P182 cabinet. I was wondering if fitting an additional 120mm fan at the other end of the duct help.

Adding another fan in series like that doesnt increase cfm but increase static pressure. so if the fan is fairly free flowing it wont help. On a heatsink or radiatior wich induses a pressure drop it can help since u need more static pressure to push the air through. So dont think another fan in the 5.25 bay would help much;-)
