Great test, Bluefront. I'd love to see the Sharkoon SilentEagle thrown into the mix. Has anyone compared SlipStream vs SilentEagle?

Thanks.....I may do another similar test in the near future, using the best of this last test, along with a few new fans I have yet to acquire. The Enermax that look good aren't available yet. Actually I'm waiting for Jabtech to have all these in stock at the same time....one box-full.

I have an interest in how different fans perform when sucking through filters, but how to best judge this is debatable. That rpm-drop test seems to be the best to me...but I'm open to suggestions.

Welcome to SPCR!

I prefer the Scythe Slipstream 800RPM fans -- they are the quietest fans I know of (except for the 500RPM).

Will they push enough air? Are those 12v speeds? I plan on connecting the fans to a controller.

Thx!

Hello,

The 800RPM Slipstream is probably enough, yes. It pushes more air at a given RPM because of the 9 blades.

Can you believe the 800 RPM version is the only one not available in the UK! :x

so what would you use in my case:
p5q pro mobo
e8400 cpu
hr 01 plus heatsink
520 psu
p182 case
9800 gtx+ (smaller and less power)

--------
i am thinking:

top: sflex 800

rear/exhaust: slipstream 800 or 1200 not sure here

heatsink: s-flex or slipstream 800 (maybe because of the fins are more spaced i`ll use slipstream 800? or passive??)

intake: sflex 800

wow the more you read the more it gets confusing

any comments???

Hi,

I have not used the Typhoons. The fans that I have tried that are quiet are the Nexus (and Yate Loon, who make the Nexus), Scythe Slipstream, GlobalWin NCB, and Enermax Enlobal -- plus I'm sure that the SPCR recommended list is also fine.

Hi,

Thanks for that link -- the Gentle Typhoon looks like a version of the fan in the giagundo SeaSonic PSU:

It certainly looks like someone should order one up and give it a whirl.
