frustration with these little buggers....
I bought a nice nexus, with advice from a silent pc pursuit forum... err hum,
and it made this ticking noise, from 17th century 386 days, being 2009 around the corner with a 52c idle on stuff my subaru would freeze on if to install...
I decided to go through the parts bin and look at a 100 dollars worth of my junk fan to see what I could do.....
1. the powmax, 2 for 5 dollars, 10 bucks delivered.several years ago. Still running. wow. crazier than an 87 corolla still not on the road today. Little blue lights, a 9 year old would think it was cool.. I didn't like the lights, but did take note at how light the magnetics was, and reactive to throttling without being a 40ton truck...and the fans had a nice swoop, a hecules c-130 or p3 orion could keep a quiet flight over my neighborhood with....and it spun a bit too fast.
2. the nexus stays calm at 1400rpm, nice front fan. Except for that prehstoric ticking noise found on the oldest of pc fans, and the blade design to prove how primitive it is.The magnetics heavier than a honda accord starter. That was 18 bucks delivered. what a joke...
So I took both apart and the powmax blades fit the nexus body with and the nexus fan blades fit the powmax.Well lubed with lithium, spaced out with the little rubbers....
now at 1600rpm for the nexus body, and the powmax fan blades...(gained 200rpm)it turned out to be a good scenario. Feel free to test it out in a chamber...
you could buy fans until no tomorrow with every 5 star rating known to reviewers, it is still the same crap different day.
