I know its loud at 2000 RPM by default but I want to run it @ 5v.
Anyone can confirm that its inaudible (even at night in the bedroom) @ 5v from 1-2m distance ?

Probably the 1400 rpm version will suit your purposes better.

I have the 1200 slim on my graphics card and it doesn't take a lot aboive 5V to make it audible. The slim blades makes for a higher tone. Better try the 1600 model, tops, if you can get that.

If you have not yet bought it, how about the 800rpm version of the 12mm slipstream:
SY1212SL12SL
800rpm, 19.53 dBA, 19.40 CFM

I own a 800 rpm SLipStream Slim and I don't remember it being quiet at 800 rpm. But I can do further testing if needed.

I meant running it at 7 volts or so.

Just wondering, why don't you just get a slower version to begin with?

because I need to run it exactly from 5V (from an USB port). 12v is not possible.
I was afraid that a slower one is has too low CFM @ 5v.

Eventually I've bought a 140mm 1200 RPM scythe and its silent from 1m @ 5v
