Cougar Vortex PWM Fans

Post by Cod » Sun Jul 01, 2012 11:30 am

Does anyone have any experience with these fans? I need to replace one of the stock fans in my Silverstone GD05 and came across these while browsing the interwebz. Since I need a 120mm case fan, I was looking at the CF-V12HP (http://www.cougar-world.com/products/fa ... x_pwm.html). The specifications / numbers "look" good and a lot of the customer reviews I've read made the fans look like a great product. I'm looking for thoughts from the SCPR viewers since we have an unnatural affection with silence to go with performance.

Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

According to the spec on the website, an idle of 20% duty cycle would equate to around 800 rpm which seems a bit on the high side.

Cougar Vortex PWM was reviewed here : http://www.hardware.fr/articles/867-10/ ... -test.html
(in french)

They lowered it's speed to 755 rpm in PWM mode, or 390 rpm @5V.
