Can anyone tell me what the best 80mm fan is in 15mm thickness is at the moment?

It will be used blow air up into a PSU.

AFAIK there aren't many options, in the PC-aftermarket arena: 2000rpm Evercool and Cooler Master the most notable ones (avoid SilenX like the plague). I know there's also a NoiseBlocker PRO series, but it's very rare to find, way costly and not well regarded.

At any rate, the main issue is how to drive that fan: more probably that not, you won't be able to use the PSU controller.

Another possible alternative is to look for any slower variant of your current fan, or a similar one, from electronic suppliers like mouser (and usually you will have to solder/crimp it).

Does it have to be 80x15mm? As the choice is limited if you can move to 80x25mm it would be beneficial in noise/output terms too.

If it's not possible, IIRC Papst makes a few 15mm models. Edit: actually Papst don't... My mistake.

I'm not aware of them (in their current lineup I saw only 38, 32 and 25mm models): can you kindly point out some reference?

Papst doesn't seem to make one (they have all other size/depth combinaison... )

Any chance you can fit the fan outside the PSU ?

Only other option I can think of is a 70mm fan, papst makes one : http://www.ebmpapst.com/en/products/com ... ?pID=53857

I thought Papst did but actually they don't. Having a Google there are a couple of fans that come up but none really seem to have major retail availability and instead have to come from specialist electronic components suppliers. Just don't buy the SilenX, they're noise claims are ficticious and they don't have a good reputation at SPCR.
