http://www.phanteks.com/PH-F140HP.html
Speed (RPM) 600 - 1300 ± 250 rpm
Max Airflow 40.9 - 88.6 CFM
Acoustical Noise 15.22 - 19 dB(A)
Static Pressure .39-1.64mm H2O

The PH-F140HP did very well in the SPCR article, but since then SP models have arrived (Static Pressure models, I assume, though they have similar specs, just 100rpm less max RPM) which look very similar apart from a colour switch and the addition of LEDs. It would be interesting to know whether they perform the same acoustically. I've tried searching on here to no avail (probably because of the specific codes).

http://www.phanteks.com/PH-F140SP.html
Speed (RPM) 1200 ± 250 rpm
Max Airflow 82.1 CFM
Acoustical Noise 19 dB (A)
Static Pressure
1.33mm H2O

I can only find one review (http://www.hitechlegion.com/reviews/coo ... l=&start=3) which rate them highly, but I'm not sure on trusting just the one.

Does anybody have experience with these or can point me in the direction of more information with these as to their relative performance to the PH-F140HP?

Okay so after a bit more research I've answered my own question really. This isn't a successor, it is an addition to their fan range along with the 140XP. In increasing order of static pressure: HP-SP-XP, so I have been told. The HP has 120mm mounts whilst the SP has 140mm mounts and slightly different rubber grommets for the anti vibration. Performance seems to be similar because of the same basic design, but no hard figures or tests are available yet.

Just in case anybody else was wondering.

The XP is also PWM, not sure if the others are or not, Phantek has a very cool tech into where they transition PWM singal into voltage controlled, this was present in some of their coolers and now in their cases. But the Phanteks 140mm Case/Radiator Cooling Fan (PH-F140XP_BK) i tested, was pure PWM.

i know this is a 1-year old thread, but the successor to the PH-F140HP is now out.

It is called the PH-F140HP II

has anyone heard of any reviews yet?

is silentpcreview planning on doing a review?

thanks guys 8)

I just bought two of these fans and am extremely pleased with them so far. Essentially inaudible and they do at 450 RPM what my SP120's did at 800~. The 120 mounts are kind of annoying so I might return mine and get PH-F140XP's if they are the same exact fan just with different mounts.

Yeah, the successors are the HP II / MP.
Coolingtechnique had a look at the F120MP and F140HP II.
http://coolingtechnique.com/recensioni/ ... l=&start=5

Great performance and acoustics in my honest opinion. Might consider trying the F140MP's in the front of my Define R5.
Sound pressure wise F140HP II quieter than A14 at roughly the same RPM and moves more air + generates more static pressure.

Thermalbench looked at F120MP and F140MP
http://thermalbench.com/2015/01/07/phan ... 40mp-fans/

Hope someday in the future SPCR could be able to take a look at the MP's.

P.S. Coolingtechnique has changed their method of recording sound samples and videos onward from 1st of July will not be comparable to previous videos.

You bought the HP II's? If you want the native 140 equilevant then that is the F140MP, not XP.

I gotta say that Phanteks naming model is not that easy to understand..
But if we look at 120/140mm sizes then there are basically two different designs.

7 blades with MVB 2
F120MP (120mm, PWM, 500-1800rpm)
F140MP (140mm, PWM, 500-1600rpm)
F140 HP II(140mm round frame, PWM, 500-1600rpm)

9 blades with MVB
F120XP (120mm, PWM, 500-1500rpm)
F120SP (120mm, 3pin, 1300rpm)
^basically the same, other PWM other 3pin
F140XP (140mm, PWM, 600-1200rpm)
F140SP (140mm, 3pin, 1200rpm)
^basically the same, other PWM other 3pin
F140HP (140mm round frame, PWM, 600-1300rpm)

And then there's the 9 blades with MVB and triangle struts
F120S (120mm, 3pin, 1300rpm)
F140TS (140mm, 3pin, 1200rpm)

Edit: Might as well note that their Updraft Floating Balance bearing is a rifle bearing. Verified that through email from Phanteks a while back. Me asking if it's a ball bearing was because someone on OCN was thinking the UFB is bb.

I prefer the 9 blade ones, I think I've seen something in the reviews that match my experience as well, but I'm not certain

Thank you for response. I just checked out the Amperage of the II version. It is a lot more amps, that things probably spins very fast. I will stick with the first version, thank you for that heads up

How come nobody saw this?

Unfortunately the new Phanteks fan is considerably worse than the older PH-F140TS that ships with their flagship PH-TC14PE cooler. At higher speeds it's turbulent and buzzy. Starting at about 900 RPM, it begins to drone and produce an odd, almost ghostly tone which continues as the speed is reduced. The droning starts to transform into a less offensive humming sound at lower speeds but the tone remains, even at the minimum speed.
Notes:

He said PH-F140TS (there is a reason), but he meant PH-F140HP.

The one referred in article is the PH-F140HP II.

Thank you so much for the cooler review. I was considering the PH-F140HP II, but it looks like the 9 blade model PH-F140HP would be better. It seems like the sound signature of the HP is meant to compete with the NF-P14, while the HP II is meant to compete with the NF-A15.

I don't think so, the A15 is a good fan, I wouldn't say the same of the HP-II.
