Hard Drive External setup...temp drop 10C.

Post by Bluefront » Mon Feb 17, 2003 3:08 pm

Here's a real easy setup for two hard drives. I used a CompUsa hard drive fan combo, rewired the fans in series so they are running on 6 volts. Two Maxtor drives that are quiet enough in my case that I cannot hear them at all, complete the setup.

Four little felt squares on the botton hold the drives slightly off the bottom of the case, which is foam covered.

I hope the vertical mounting of these drives allows heat to escape equally from both the normal top and bottom of the drives. The two little fans blow up toward the ram chip.

The drives sit directly in front of the front case fan, which is blowing right through the center of the drives, the case fan running at 1600rpm.

Still under-going testing.....Check out the Wood Case album with the new setup.

Well I used this setup minus the small fans, in a new external setup. I didn't know where exactly to post the project, so I put the whole explaination here.....
