Zalman CNPS7000-CU Impressions

I just installed the CNPS7000-CU in my pentium 4 2,4 system. Here are some impressions:

Installation:
Very easy. Opening the package it came is was the hardest thing. Screwing the cooler onto the clips that came with it was done in under a minute.

Performance:
On my 2,4ghz@2,89 the processor temp is about 55 degrees celcius under load. When the fan speed is set to max it lowers to around 52-53. Before with my CNPS6500B-ALCU it could go up to over 60 degrees in silent mode!

Noise:
None. It's even more quiet than the 6500. And the full speed mode isn't nearly as noisy as the 6500 fan at full speed.

Conclusion:
Go buy it now. It should be out 'cause I bought mine from a local retailer today.

now that is pretty good performance for a p4 overclocked ~ 500 mhz!

And if it's quieter than a 6500b then it's quiet enough for me....

except I'm using an Athlon XP system and the 7000 is not out for that cpu yet...

According to exoticpc.com they should have the p4 version in March, but don't know about the AMD version. Looks like a killer quiet item to me.

AFAIK, the 7000 will not be available for the Athlon. Hammer and P4 only.

mmm... 55ºC underload? Can u tell me how do you test it? CPUburn? 15min? 20min?

And fan mode? its in silent mode? or a medium speed? u know rpms?

last question... what about to change the fan? is it possible?

On Zalman's webboard, they mentioned they're working on a version for Socket 462 and it will be available "in [the] near future".

The only thing that worries me is how are you over clocking... over volting as well or at stock voltage? (It makes huge difference in wattage consumption of processor).
I am moving to P4 3.06 pretty soon and I think it will probably generate a little more heat than your rig if this is done using stock voltage. Which brings it to 55+ C in silent mode. (I believe junction in P4 3.06 is rather low at 69C which doesn't give as much room for failure) (My guestimate would be 57-58 under load with the setup)
Also, I would like to get description of your airflow in case... Do you consider it to be excellent? good? okay? or so-so?... (I noticed compared to my previous case vs current one, the temp difference is as much as 3-5c on CPU)
Right now, my 80mm vantec cooled Zalman 5700Cu running at 1250 RPM keeps 2.53 undervolted to 1.325V at 49C under full load. I wonder if 5700Cu is more efficient or less efficient compared to 6500Cu so I can get better idea on 7000....
(or SLK900 would be ultimate choice?)

Ok here are my full specs:
Abit IT7-MAX2 V.2.0
Intel Pentium 4 2400 533FSB C1 Core stepping.
Ati Radeon 9700 PRO ZM80A-HP

Currently at 160*4= 640MHZ FSB
DDR 400
Processor voltage 1,625V.

So it's running at a little higher voltage (1,525 is default for C1 processors) but it runs cool enough for me. The fan rpm is currently at about 1350rpm.

I got it from the store I work in and we got it from www.space-promotion.nl. They also sell directly to consumers if you are in the Netherlands. My first guess is that they should be available in all over europe, don't know about america though.

Oh and space promotion also got the 400Watt zalman psu but it's a bit expensive.

Oh and I'm running with 3 case fans in a standard chieftec case. The papst 34something NGL fans. Rear, front, window. The PSU is a zm300a-apf.

Thank you very much. From your description and my guestimate, it sounds like it is in comparible range with SLK-900 and definitely better than Zalman 5700cu I have.
Power consumption sounds like about on par with P4-3Ghz (1 extra volt and similar clock speed)... I would assume similar heat generated heat from mine as yours.... Maybe my case runs couple degree cooler... so that will leave me at 52-53c CPU at load under silent mode... definitely acceptable it sounds like.
Just waiting for it to show up in US.
