Water-X CPU Water Cooler
I had this brought to my attention and thought I'd pass it on. Anyone with any experience of one of these?

It's installed and I am disappointed. To give you an idea of my setup, it's an Antec SX1000 case with two Papst 80mm 8412NGL fans in the back. The CPU is a 2800 Barton and I'm using Arctic Silver (original AS - no bloody 2 or 3 as Scotty would say )
My temps are 46 C at idle and 50C after running UT2K3 for an hour+ which are decent. The noise I can't stand. My previous rig was an Athlon 1600 with 2 Papst 80mm fans in the back, 2 in the front, an Alpha 8045 heatsink, and a Papst 120mm suspended over the HS with a Zalman bracket. Not completely noiseless, just a low whoosh of air with no whine. The cooler sounds like a third of a Thermaltake DragonOrb3. I know what that sounds like since I keep one as a "backup" cooler. Loud whoosh with some whine.
I can't return it. Personally, I'm thinking of putting it on the shelf as a piece of modern art or something. I'm now looking at either a copper Zalman flower or an SLK800 (can't use the 900 with an Asus A7N8X) with the Zalman bracket, Papst 120mm fan, and a 120 to 80mm fan adapter to better direct the air. Any suggestions?

It may help a fraction, probably 1, 2 or 3C (if your lucky) because AS1 was originally a superb product that has been improved, but reading many reviews of it shows the advantage is minimal to it's predecessor.Sledge wrote:Quick question. Would Arctic Silver 3 help much (as opposed to the AS1 I'm using now)?
Yep shipping would cost quite a bit.. Oh well
