I'm considering cutting the fan grill(s) out of my new Antec SLK3700AMB case and replacing it with a fan guard.
Does anyone know if the fan guard provides any EMI protection? If not, is it a problem from an EMI standpoint to have a 12cm hole in my case (in the back and possibly in the front as well)?
I did a Google search and turned up this page which refers to "EMI Enhanced" models of fan guards, but it's not very clear.
Thanks,
George

I can't imagine that there will be an EMI problem...
Hello George:
I can't imagine that there will be a problem with EMI even if you had no grill! So, a metal wire grill that is "grounded" with four screws won't let anything out of the case that will be noticeable in any way. Heck, folks here on the forum have wooden boxes, aluminum boxes, and plastic boxes -- and these *might* be a problem if the CPU runs at high freqencies, but, I think you have nothing to worry about with this. Go ahead and make it quieter!
