a simple motherboard for AMD with 4 socket-mounting holes
hi there,
gonna build a second PC with all my "spare" or old parts,
all i lack is a motherboard,
simple, i'm gonna put my actual MSI k7n2 mobo in that "new-to-build" pc,
that means that i need a New one for my Athlon xp 2500+ processor
the only requirements are: i need those four mounting holes around the processor, so i can install my reserator
don't know much about motherboards, so if anyone could give me an advice,
i need 1 AGP slot,
support for DDR400 dual channel ram
4 holes around cpu
that's it,,,,doesn't have to be anythbing fancy... msi seems nice to me,
but is there like a motherboard out there that you can call THE BEST (for amd's) .... and au contraire; what's the most simple one i could get?
looking forward to reading some comments,
thanx alot in advance,
earworm

Athlon XP => Socket 462 a.k.a. Socket A
Athlon 64 => Socket 754 and recently 939
Different socket means different motherboard. I'd look at the list of undervoltable mobo's on the main site. Other than that, decide on what features you want (sata, on-board (G)LAN, etc) and make a shortlist of possible candidates. From that list, check the manufacturers to see if they have the mounting holes and then select the one that has the best price at your favorite retailer.
Easy as building a PC it's the silence part that's tricky.
