I just want to share my experience of migrating from the Sonata to TJ06.
Before:
stock sonata case
p4 prescott 3.0
gigabyte intel 875 chipset
maxtor 250gb hd
wd 200 gb hd
ati 9600 graphics
dvd burner x 2
1 gb ram
zalman 7000 al-cu at max voltage
cpu idle temp 47 degrees by mbm5 at room temp of 73 F
With these settings, I was somewhat annoyed by the noise coming from the cpu cooler and case vibrations. So, inspired by Mike Chin's review, I purchased the Silverstone tj06:
TJ06 with wind tunnel
silverstone nt01 cpu heatsink without fans
I replaced the stock 80mm fan with a Nexus real silent 80mm fan.
I used the stock 120mm dual fans at full 12V.
Seasonic super tornado 300W
cpu idle temp 49 degrees by mbm5 at room temp of 72 F.
The system now is quieter, and no vibrations. Although I am happier because of reduced noise, I'm mildly disappointed with the increased cpu temp. So I decreased the Vcore from the recommended 1.3875 to 1.2875, and idle cpu temp dropped to about 46.
I've run Prime95 for 1 hour without any problem. I used the torture test. However, I've read previous discussions about how cpu usage should be close to 100%, but with my machine, I only get 5-15% cpu usage even though I set the priority as normal in task manager. Also, the cpu temp barely rises 1 or 2 degrees. Am I doing this properly to check for stability?
