Motherboard bios' with real fan control? 64 bit mb choices

Post by johnjv » Sun Mar 27, 2005 6:40 am

Long time since last here the pc's been running great, and in the background. Been busy with day to day house, car, and family problems and haven't contributed much. (I'll try to do better in the future)
My socketA mb has controls in the bios to set the voltage from 8 to 12 for the given temperature parameters. It's not in the uguru junk.
I've got the upgrade bug because of 64 bit and s939 cpus. I've read that again Abit offers this function in their bios for the nForce4Ultra chip. Basically unhappy with Abit's attitude towards support, I'd prefer to go with another manufacturer.
How well does the Q-Fan work with Asus boards?
Is cpu and NB fan control really an issue with Cool n Quiet?
If I go with the A8N... I'd probably order a passive sink for the nb at the same time. I already know about the little mag-lev fans so if DFI I'd do the same. So I guess the issue is the cpu fan speed only.
The Radeon Xpress will be out probably before I get the cpu, S12, pci video card all here. Getting all that will be a six month project. I doubt those chips would have the hardware firewall though. Routers seem to take a lot of involvement to set up.
Never been on the Via bandwagon since my A7V266. I like dual channel memory.
Thanks for any advice. John

Just found the thread in fans&controls  That's a start!
*** No that's the answer.
