ok so i have dicided on getting a quieter hard drive.
currently i have a 60gxp in quiet seek mode, but it's still really loud.
i could use a little more than 40gigs too.
so my question is which hard drive. I've been reading all your posts and am really confused.
i know that in terms of proformance that the IV is way slower than my drive, V is about the same, and the 7200.7 is faster.
the 7200.7 has no seashield and acoustics cant be changed.
the IV and V have the shield and acoustics can be changed.
the platter sizes are 40/60/80 for the IV/V/7200.7.
My question is, if i go for an 80gig drive,
which will be the quietest without dropping too much proformance?
i hear a single platter 7200.7 is quieter than the V and that is according to seagate too. But what if AAM is turned on in the V, what then?
oy!, such a hard choice. Help me out please...
