Here's a link for a cabinet sold by a company named 'Crywolf'.

To bad it retails for $699!

But hey, if you're REALLY desperate and money is no object in your quest for silence then......
Crywolf
They claim almost 25dBA reduction.
I know it shows an Apple Mac but I'm sure it works just peachy with a PC.

Trivia: The new Macs are nicknamed "windtunnel".
They average 60-65 dBA.
Quite a departure from the G4 Cube which I used to own. (100% fanless).

There are lots of other similar cabinets that, well, look a whole lot nicer and sell for either more or for less. It is not a new idea at all, recording studios have been using them for years. check spcr web links section, a bunch listed somewhere in there.

No way. I built one that was much rougher and it cost me more than $100 before finishing (which can get very expensive). It adds up, plus the time involved is not small unless you have a really nicely setup workshop.

I know for a fact I could build one for cheap. But ive got alot of spare wood and screws ect. lying around. Is wood that expensive now? Hell you could buy one of those cheap walmart desks and just mod it a little, thats basically what im doing.

The Mac in that enclosure looks like my friend's G4 Mirrored Disk Drive......Apple has instituted a replacement policy for the noisy PSU in these. Too bad it is so strangely shaped it is useless to any other computer user :).
