If I was Mr. Antec, I think I'd torch the entire building and retire to live in Monaco. :)

I can see why retire to Monaco, but why torch the building? You have people bitching about "faults" in one of your products that you have "corrected" in another. Why torch the building, surely this means you have something for everyone (and with the P150s drive sleds, I'm down to 2 1/2 grumble points -no mounting holes for laptop drives, no backplane option and still harder to remove than Sonata ones, but less bad than the P180 ones and with the airflow advantage that that gave us. Maybe when Antec get to the P050...

Hmmm, would that be a minitower or SFF? A SFF that cools like a P150? That would be awesome! :D . Antec just keeps upping the bar, and we keep demanding more, until we get to the impossible . . . like a silent SFF system out of the box, or is it really impossible? :D

What am I not getting...:?

A few pictures from the outside, no proper pictures from the inside and a short description.

Yep, that's enough info to pass judgement.

Well we know 1) its going to have Antec's new line of modular PSUs with higher efficiency, 2) its going to have hdd suspension as an option on the system (no modding required), 3) sound deadening panels like the P180, and 4) there are 'integrated cable organizers' for easier cablegami.

I'd say it looks very good on paper.

Wow, that is quite a package.

I could really care less how it looks personally. This is the first case I've debated paying retail price for...

Im not bashing it, it looks very functional, and the new PSUs seem very good, im just saying i dont like the looks. But as i said earlier, i dont like the looks of any case except the TJ03, so im going to make my own case. I´ve already destroyed two cheap cases, thats a start

That is absolutely ludicrous. "Poor Antec, so many of those mean SPCR members find their Sonata's inadequate and throw them out like yesterday's trash when the 3700 comes out, and then they do the same to their 3700's when the P180 comes out. How soon will they repeat this cruelty to their P180's?!?"

It's probably better for Antec to not make the perfect case. It's other manufacturers' fault for not breathing down their necks enough to force them to.

Ralf Hutter wrote:
I'm pretty darn sure that if Antec had included a PSU in the P180, folks would have bitched about that for some reason. "It's not powerful enough". "It's too powerful. I don't need that much power and don't want to pay the extra money for it". It doesn't have enough _______ connectors, I need more". :)

How did they ever avoid this problem with the 3700/3000/3800?

Sorry, I just can't help bitching. In regards to the PSU, it doesn't really make sense for me to care about it anyway, I don't think I'll even consider getting this case, it looks much too cramped.

Putting those two things together: Antec is pulling a Sonata with this case. And the 3700 is more popular here.

Aleksi wrote:

And dimensions. What's Antec gonna do to make this different from a Sonata, make it function like a bag of holding?

"Micro ATX on the outside, full tower on the inside. Only available by fighting your way through 6 floors of monsters to the bottom of Antec Dungeon." Anyone interested?

LOL Romeo, couldn't resist posting that eh?

Some of us happen to like microATX outside, and full ATX inside. Much easier to carry under one arm, and you stil have enough expansion slots for all the slots on your mobo.

If Antec can't make a case of that size easy to work with, they're doing something wrong. The Lian Li PC60 series is a bit smaller (in height, at least), full ATX, and a breeze to install just about anything in. And I don't see the point in buying a bigger case if I only ever use 2 HDs and maybe 2 expansion cards.

P150 looks really good, hope it will be available black or black/silver like p180. PSU duck should be easy to make to that nice NeoHE PSU. Perhaps a totally flush front would have given a better look, but that a matter of taste. Can't wait to see it reviewed here.

so, for a not-so-up-on-it silencer, what are the main differences between the 150/160/180?

Obviously the look and placement of some of the things are different but performance wise, are there any comparissons of the 160/180 and speculation against the 150?

Thanks

Finally got the inside and rear view pictures up.

Not sure if they're helpful enough though.

So that "advanced cable management" system, is that the hole in the motherboard tray? :)

I blame the silencers. If they can't get their acts together and have the same opinions, they don't deserve the perfect case. ;)

Personally I think it's great, though I prefer the design and look of the P180. The cost would be the deciding factor for me...

MSRP: $180 w/NeoHE430

I think the PSU by itself will retail for $110.

Ouch. I was kicking myself for already having built my new system when this case showed up. With a price like that, I'm not kicking anymore. :?

But they're not sacrificing expension slots. If microATX was the de facto standard, then cases of this size would be completely different than they are now, they'd have hell of a lot of room between the CPU heathsink and power supply, but since these cases are built for ATX mboards, they have little room there.

I doubt it'll be $180. On froogle, you can find a Neo HE 430W for about $75. That plus the cost of a P180 at newegg totals to $180. The P150 should be cheaper than the P180, and a Case + PSU combo, is usually cheaper than buying them separately. $180 might be the MSRP, but I think a P150 will be down to about $140-$150 on newegg, after its been out for a month or two.

I wonder if the "sound-deadening polycarbonate side and top panels" will be more or less effective than the al/plastic/al setup in the P180?

What are the front fan options? There appear to be twin fan grilles on the filter holder.

My opinion?

Quit the speculating, worring and bitching. Just look forward to an objective SPCR review, and then deal with the results.

You can't please all the people all the time. But you can please some of the people some of the time. Antec has never failed at that. I believe they have certainly pleased enough people until now.

Tastes, needs, desires, demands and wishes are all subjective and differ among everyone anyways.

I want this one answered as well. Any chance those are both 120s? How awesome that would be...

Well the case height is 430mm, of which the lower drive cage looks no more than 50% of that = 215mm. So I very much doubt they’re twin 120’s = 240mm

Eh well. Doesn't hurt to wish...

Still looks like it might be an awesome case though.

er well ive looked at 3 pictures from the inside....

looks darn normal and decent. I will buy this in a heartbeat. Great new system/linux box. I'll say it again what I did in the psu forum, the 150 looks a lot nicer to me than the 180.

cases that are huge dont appeal to someone who has 1 vid card, 1 silent hd, 1 combo dvd burner silent drive, etc. plus, this psu seems sick. and, so far, antec has been accurate about their psu efficiencies. I think they know MikeC is going to be testing them. I am not joking!

the 18 decibels is a bit hard to swallow though. However, it might be at 1 meter inside the case it is in without components being turned on.

id guess 23 db's at the low draw end. we should make a bettting pool on these things. set up a chart with boxes.

Judging from the URL, it's an unofficial SPCR sneak preview. :-)
