The new Evercool quiet, low RPM fans

Post by Felger Carbon » Sat Jul 08, 2006 1:25 pm

The new Evercool quiet (e.g. low RPM) fans are now widely available in the US:

120x25, 800RPM+/-10%, <16dBA 30.51CFM $10-$8*
92x25, 1200RPM+/-10%, <16dBA 24.15CFM $9-$7*
80x25, 1400RPM+/-10%, <16dBA 16.06CFM $8-$6*

These are now carried by Newegg, SVC.com, and *Nexfan.com among others listed by google (but not froogle). Search "Evercool Green Fan EC-EGF-12".

Here's the Scythe S-Flex D 120mm info for comparison:
120x25, 800RPM+/-10%, 8.7dBA, 33.5CFM $15-$13

The reason these are quiet fans (and I'm sure they are quiet) is that they run at low RPM (with low CFM). It'll be interesting to see what SPCR users think of them.

8.7db? I think my gall bladder makes more noise than that. I don't even see how someone could have claimed to measure that low of noise.

But it certainly is quiet at 12 volts! and quieter than my Tivo DVR that is the loudest thing running in my den. So now I've got a super quiet computer but a noisy Tivo DVR

Got three fans today from SVC. Somebody in marketing put a lot of thought into the packaging of the Evercool fans. Cute.

I've posted a fan review (120mm fans only) in the User Review section, if you're interested in the performance of the two 120mms.

Is that other Evercool a 92mm? At 1200rpm it looks like a very good choice for 12V operation.
