12" tft

Post by JoaTMoN » Sat Nov 25, 2006 5:10 am

i couldnt find a suitable place to put this, i hope i got the right folder...

do they exist?

i currently have 2 19"'s one which i do everything on and the other which has msn and widgets on so i can watch movies/ work etc and chat at the same time.

the problem is with both screens on their native settings of 1280x1024 my graphics cards struggle. especially if im playing games.

i want to get a 22" widescreen in the new year as my main screen and then a small one to sit beside it for system information and msn etc. it only needs to be 800x600 really.

i want to reduce the work load my gpu has to do and hence reduce its temps etc

any ideas or am i just mad?

im intending on getting a better graphics card. im using a 6600GT at the mo.

but when im playing games on my 22" at max settings, surely having a second monitor is going to have a large effect on the frame rate etc. i enjoy having two screens and dont want to give up the option of having a second one,but having one at 1280x1024 seems a bit excessive for what ill be using it for

Yes, they exist :) Starting from 7" widescreen TFTs (800x480 or so), then 8"-10" normal TFTs (800x600) and so on (search eBay for example). Many of these have touchcsreen option too - useful for car PCs or for HTPC cases or similar.

where have you seen them? im in the uk and have had no luck finding any that are a sensible price as of yet. (i tend to avoid ebay for electronics as i like to know i can return an item if its faulty with little hassle)

Found this 12" monitor from ebay.co.uk, seems that Allcam is UK company:

I'm just using ebay as search engine to find interesting things and some info about their resellers :)

If you buy from someone who offers "Paypal Buyer Protection" on Ebay (it will say in the listing) if the item is faulty or not as described you can easily get a refund and return the item.

Do you stretch the gaming view over two screens? I doubt that? Then running two monitors doesn't impact game framerates, as long as only one is actually doing the game..
