Silencing (somewhat) a Dell server

We've got a PowerEdge 1900 in office environment. Too loud for their taste.

Are there any options without doing major surgery to help reduce the sound level without major impact on temp? I think the fans are somewhat proprietary so not keen on replacing.

Have people created external mufflers/enclosures to help control sound?
