Hi, first of all, sorry bad english and newbee questions......

Here in Chile, silent power supplies are often out of stock.
Since i don't have one yet, i don't know how noisy would be
the cooling fan of the E6600 CPU included in the box...

I'm looking for silent power supplies first, cause i think that
PSU's makes the most noise on all computers (i'm wrong?)
I'm waiting the arrival of ZALMAN 360B-APS power supply
and i have 2 sata drives, that couldn't make much noise...

Do anyone recommend me to look at a dedicated silent
cpu cooler fan, or this fan is pretty quiet and will achieve
laptop low-noise levels?

The fan included in the box is pretty noisy. Actually, it's very noisy.

Seasonic makes good, quiet PSU's. And some SATA drives can be pretty loud. What kind did you get?

A quiet CPU Cooler depends on the size of your case. What type of case are you using? Some good choices are: Scythe Ninja or any Thermalright.

thanks angelkiller, i'm gonna watch out for a good silent cpu cooler...
about my case, it's a thermaltake (worst case i've heard) but it's big
and a friend told me that big cases are better for cooling (?) also i can
put inside it front and rear fans (good silent fans of course)...
my sata drives are two 80gb 7200 seagate barracuda's...(i'll put them
on some bounce system)...
I haven't seen any place that sells Seasonic PSU's here in chile...
but overall i think this setup would be ok, not perfect but just fine...
what about zalman's cpu coolers, like CNPS9500 AT?

As for fans, Nexus and Yate Loon are the quietest. Scythe S-Flex is pretty good too. And big cases arn't necessarily easier to cool, they just can take more heat than smaller cases. (So in a way they are easier to cool)

When you said "some bounce system" are you talking about suspension? Like this? If so, that's good. Seagate hard drives are noisy too. (I have them too! )

No Seasonic? That's OK. What about Antec NeoHE or Antec Phantom? Both of them are pretty quiet also. The Zalman CNPS9500 is pretty quiet. It's not silent but it is quiet.

a Corsair HX520W that seems to be the optimal (at least
according to SPCR reviews) PSU i can get down here...

what's the difference between quiet and silent?
quiet--->vibrations / silent--->noise?

Quiet = not much noise
Silent = zero noise (please note these descriptions to note apply to Thermaltake's marketing department).

Yes, the Corsair is really good. Like the person above me:
Quiet= little noise
Silent= No noise

If the Zalman is all you can find it will work. And it's going to be 10 C here tomorrow. And that's warm! (We are near the end of winter)

i've forgotten the most important newbee question:

As a musician (and noise-hate guy), i need a silent or *very* quiet PC.
In my house there's a MacMini that in my opinion is pretty quiet...
Also, my brother has a Dell inspiron that is quiet too; both of them
i found "acceptable" (in borderline to noisy, at night)...
I'll use my new PC exclusively for recording, and i don't think
that i'll be overclocking or somewhat because i have a two-channel
audio interface and don't pretend to play & record much several tracks
simultaneously (high-demanding cpu task)...

So...
-the Corsair HX520W power supply
-the Zalman CNPS9500AT cpu cooler fan
-decent front & rear quiet case fans and
-well-made suspension system for HDD's

...will be much better than the other computers mentioned???
i mean, in a quiet room on a quiet night, almost inaudible @1mt or so?

(i don't have the PSU yet, so i don't know the levels of what you call
silent, or quiet, or very quiet, etc. Hope i know them soon!!!!)

I have the stock Intel fan and I don't find it to be loud at all. I do have a case that is designed to dampen sound though. But if your going to get the fan with the CPU anyway why not just try it and then decide if you need a quieter fan.
