This is my rig:
The PSU is recessed in the middle of the case so that a PSU muffler/baffle can be placed at the rear of the case, you can see the spot in the pic.
Currently I am using 3 antec tricool fans on low, do ya'll know if these are as quiet as yate loons? For rad's using BIP GT 240 and a BIP GT 120. The pump is sitting on top of foam. Currently the loudest components in the case are the PSU (OCZ 700w) and the two HD's... oh and the DVD rom when it's running.
I still have to cover everything in foam sound dampener, maybe get new fans, a better NB heatsink, a better ramdac heatsink, and remount my HDs.
The HDs are mounted via rubber bushings on a 3"x7" sheet of metal, and that sheet of metal is hanging via bungie cord on the 5.25" drive bays.
Your thoughts and suggestions on how to quiet down my rig will be much appreciated.

Can't help you with everything, but I do know that Yate Loons are quieter than the Tri-Cools. Tri-Cools are fine for a genrally quiet system, but are pretty loud for a really quiet/silent system. As for those Raptors, you might want to look into a Scythe Quiet Drive.
Not sure if it can be done in your set-up, but when I had a P180, I found that too much noise came from the unbaffled top fan hole, so I sealed the hole shut from the inside with acoustic dampening material. But in my case, I used the rear hole as the exit for the hot air.
And replaced all the fans. I went for Nexus fans, but Yates are the same.
But, really if the PSU is the most noisy part, just get a quiet seasonic PSU.

How about a new PSU along with quieter HDs and/or enclosures?Maviryk wrote:Currently the loudest components in the case are the PSU (OCZ 700w) and the two HD's...
