Reserator 1 V2 manly enough for this spec?

Post by Deathwish » Mon Aug 14, 2006 1:44 am

Currently deciding on what to put in my new system and this is my thought so far, just wanted to check that a Reserator 1 V2 will be ok for it.

Intel Core 2 Duo E6600
MSI i975 PowerUp Edition
2Gb Corsair DDR2-800
ATi Radeon X1900GT
Samsung 400Gb HD
QTechnology Semi-Fanless PSU 400W

My only concern is the amount of heat that Radeon is going to be putting into the system! 8)

I would have thought the X1900 would be pushing it a bit, even if it is only the GT - would a 7900GT be out of the question? They run much cooler and perform comparably. Also bear in mind that the temperatures you'll get even with that will still be fairly "high" by active cooling standards.

Yeah I thought as much, those X1900's run pretty warm!

My original idea was to get a 7600GT as a stop gap until some of the new DX10 cards appear. I don't play that many games and usually at 1024x768 so I think the 7600GT would do me for now, and save some cash!

I think the 7600GT + Conroe would be fine for the Reserator!! :)

Hey,

Sorry to crash your thread, but I didn't want to make another!

Just wondering if a Reserator 1 V2 would be a good fit for an overclocked Conroe (let's say 3.6GHz with 1.55V) and an nForce 680i northbridge (probably overvolted as well)?

Cheers,

Suman

Hi mate,

Just thought you might be interested in my progress. I have a stock system (nothing overclocked), E6600, 2Gb Ram, GeForce 7900GT, MSI 975x Plat Power-Up Edition.

Idle at ~39deg CPU and ~45deg GPU.
Load at ~45-50 CPU and ~60 GPU.

I really like it so far, silent and cool :)

er, its fine.

people have this strange way of mixing air cooling thoughts with watercooling.

watercooling is far superior and can take massive more loads of heat out of a system.

i have a AMD dual core 4200 which has similar heat usage to you 6600 conroe. I have the x1900 all-in-wonder as well. rest of the components do not matter as much as the chipset can normally get a passive hs on it unless you want to put it in the loop.

i have cooling that a Reserator 1 blue boy. The cpu cooler on res1 is better than the res1 v2 but not by loads or enough to think about it. the gpu on the res1 v2 is much better, and I use that one on my system. 1 fan in back, phantom 350 psu.
