Hi
Here is the info on my experimentations with different OS for F@H:
The machine in question is:
Core2Duo 2.13 GHz
2 Gb DDR2800 RAM
Under Native WinXP:
Project : 2610

Avg. Time / Frame : 21mn 40s - 1012.16 ppd
Project : 2651

Avg. Time / Frame : 19mn 39s - 1289.77 ppd
Project : 2652
Credit : 1148
Avg. Time / Frame : 16mn 37s - 994.44 ppd
Under Ubuntu in a VMWare session on top of WinXP:
Project : 2604

Min. Time / Frame : 17mn 47s - 1425.15 ppd
Project : 2605

Min. Time / Frame : 17mn 30s - 1448.23 ppd
Project : 2609

Avg. Time / Frame : 21mn 01s - 1043.51 ppd
Project : 3037

Avg. Time / Frame : 18mn 37s - 1113.84 ppd
My conclusion is that the clients run more or less at the same speed (slight advantage to the LINUX SMP)
But what really tips the scale is the amount of high-ppd WU on LINUX. With the LINUX SMP client almost all my WU have been high-ppd. Under windows I got a lot of low-ppd units.
Since this is not a stable situation and it can change anytime, I cannot say that the LINUX SMP client is always a better choice, but currently it is.
Anyone else care to post their statistics?

Hi,
A sample of just one so far.
x2 3800 @ 2.15GHz @ 1.1v
dual boot WinXP and Ubuntu64 7.04
XP SMP client:
Project 2609
Credit 1523
Avg Time 37m39s - PPD 582.50
Ubuntu64 SMP client:
Project 2609
Credit 1523
Avg Time 33m34s - PPD 653.36
So for the exact same machine on the same project there is a ~10% speed boost by switching from XP to Ubuntu64.
But, using avi_dan's stats, changing from an X2 @ 2.15GHz to a C2Duo (@ ~ 2.15GHz) would result in a ~60% speed boost
