Eratic points per day

Post by VanWaGuy » Mon Jul 23, 2007 10:03 pm

For a while, my points per day were bouncing all over, between 400 and 1600, but I was averaging 800 to 900. For about the last week, I have been almost a flat 600 every day. I have the same 3 machines (one with dual core, so 4 cores folding). Is it normal to hit clusters of work units that are worth less than others? Seems strange to me to see both the units per week, and variation in work per day change so significantly.

Hi,
With windows clients I've had bad streaks of poor point units (PPUs?) like the 186 pointer with standard client and 1523 pointer with SMP. Those always yield less points per day for me. Then it turns around and I get hot streaks. It happens.
If you're concerned, check logs, and/or install a monitor program (fahmon, electron microscope)

Yes my single cores keep getting those 186 point jobs as of late, and yesterday my dual core finished a 1386 point SMP, which is also pretty bad compared to a 1523 or a preferable 1780.

These PPUshave been out quite a while.

Thanks for the info and suggestions. I have started using fahmon. I saw reference to electron microscope, but in looking where to get it, it looks like it is no longer supported.
