Ticking reservator 2?

Post by Cravenavp » Sat Aug 18, 2007 3:12 pm

Hi there.

You chaps seem to know what's going on with this quiet computing thing... I just recently availed myself of a Reservator 2 which is doing a rather spiffy job of keeping my CPU and GPU rather cool. It's also pretty quiet, but when there's no ambient noise then the ticking it makes drives me nuts.

I don't think it's the pump, I think it's the water meter on the front.

Has anyone found a way to get it to shut up?

Ta,

Craven

Hmm.

OK, I've had a look inside the front part - it's definitely the flow meter that's ticking. The pump is utterly silent!

I don't think I'll be able to take it apart, remove the flow meter and reconnect it safely. Does anyone else have a R2 and if they do, how loud is the ticking of the flow meter? I might consider RMA'ing it if my unit is unusually loud. Frankly it's performing superbly, I'm just not at all impressed with the constant ticking.

The flow meter is not ticking at all here. Might be safer to RMA it instead of trying to fix it yourself.

I've heard of some other people who've had the same problem in the past. :(

The flow meter in my reserator 2 ticks but very quietly. You have to literally put your ear right next to it to hear anything. :)

The pump/water noise (still very quiet) from inside the reserator 2 is far louder in comparison.

If its brand new you should be able to just RMA it and get a new unit:

I love you all.

I'll RMA it tomorrow - I sit practically next to my PC so the ticking was driving me nuts.

water wetter and distilled water without the zalman blue goop stopped all forms of hums, ticks, etc, for 2 years solid in my Res1 unit.

Hi all.

Just an update - got a second reservator 2 from my supplier. Used only de-ionised water initially, wary of the viscosity of the blue zalman gunk being a factor in the ticking.

Still ticks - just faster, cos the fluid moves more quickly.

Thanks for the advice, will RMA it, get a credit and build me own wcs :D
