Hi,

I just put together a development system based on some discussions here. It has
  • Antec P182 case
  • Asus M2N-SLI Motherboard
  • 8800GTX video card
  • Seasonic SS-700HM power supply
  • Scythe SCNJ-1100P HSF
  • 2 seagate SATA drives

I'm very happy with how quiet the system is. Some components came from an old system, so that is why they were chosen.

However, I have to use a special PCI-based image processing card and that card is 12.5" long. It doesn't fit in the case, so I need to get something else.

I have looked at the P190. Initially, it seemed ideal. However, I am not wild about the dual-PS setup and don't feel like paying for them. I would like to continue using the Seasonic. Any problems with that? Also, I am worried that the Scythe HSF won't fit because of the P190's side fan. Does anyone have thoughts on that?

Can anyone suggest an alternative that is quiet, yet large enough to support the PCI card I need to use and the huge Scythe HSF?

Thanks.

That is how I fit the 8800GTX in. Unfortunately, even with that out, there is no PCI slot in which the card can fit in the MB and case simultaneously.

I am not familiar with the motherboard, but there might be another motherboard that has a PCI layout that will allow you to use both.

It is approximately the same cost for a good case as for a good motherboard, so don't limit yourself in only looking for a new case.

Hi Dazrin,

That is a good point. This is the 2nd MB I have tried. The previous one had a chipset fan right where the card has to go. The problem w/ my current one is that the PCI slots are either too close to the bottom where the holder for the upper hdd bay is in the way or are too close to the video card.

check out this case and see what you think:

Lots of room inside for big cards and motherboards.

If you want to stay with Antec you might look at the Titan server/workstaion case. Lots of room for suspending drives too.
