I am going to purchase the ST30NF next week as the fans in my current PSU are killing me.

I had concerns about the reliability of a passive PSU but SilverStone's 3 year warranty, and some of the comments in this forum by SST Guy have put my mind at ease.

Actually I have to thank SST Guy for posting in the following threads, as I couldn't find the specifications on SilverStone's website.

I think I will run the ST30NF for a couple of months before voting in the reliability poll. But I am satisfied this is a quality product.

I have also had this PSU for some months now. I have installed it in my old Antec SLK3000B for now. I replaced my 9800 pro with a Gigabyte X800XL Silent Pipe and the AcoustiPack still installed, I was afraid everything would overheat. Im happy to report that I have no issues with it. It never overheat and it is stable. :D
The graphic card do overheat, but that is not relevant.

Works great

Post by DonQ » Sun Jan 21, 2007 12:29 am

Used it in two systems without any problems whatsoever. First was P150/NF7-S/XPM-3200+/6600GT, later TJ08/6100mobo/Opteron 152/7600GT.

Although the PSU works great I swapped it for a S12-430 so that the PSU would help with cooling thus allowing the case fan to spin slower.

The best power supply I've found

Post by Mike3325 » Sat Jul 21, 2007 6:51 pm

I held off three months on posting figuring surely this fanless thing can't possibly work. Well, it does. Mine has been on 24/7 for three months and it is still working perfectly. Unless something changes, it is my power supply of choice for any computer within its wattage rating. Absolutely silent. Amazing.

I've been running mine for a year (Etasis). Never had a problem with it temperature wise, the heatsink only ever gets warm - never too hot to touch!

The PSU is the only thing I can use as a scapegoat for my overclocking flakiness however - taking my Opteron from 2GHz to 2.7GHz with an increase in voltage to an interesting 1.5V seemed to cause BSOD or restart issues.
I run at stock (undervolted) 2GHz (1.1V) most of the time, so no probs. 12V line down at a supposed 11.71V, but that's well within spec.

Just a shame it's only ATX 1.3, else it'd be in my main rig for a long time!

It lies in a system with only ONE fan; a Yate Loon 120 undervolted as far as my Nexus fan controller will take it - it shifts precious little air. This is on a BIX II, at the front of a Wavemaster case. Pics to follow at some point in the near future! ;)

Using two right now, both in quite energy efficient systems (approx 60Watt and 75Watt for the whole system, incl PSU and fans). Very happy with noise and temp. Systems are not fanless - very slow running fans are still in.

Less happy with the power consumption of the PSU in standby mode of the computer - approx 16Watt. That should have been better. The PSUs I used before did.

Question about efficiency - with such low power consumption (compared to the rating of 300Watt), is it still efficient?

I'm running two with no problems for six and two months. I can't believe I tried so many others before I found it. Without SPCR I never would have. Combine this power supply with a 2.5" drive in an enclosure and Nexus fans and you will have to look at the computer to tell if it is on.

Connected it to my new Media PC without a vidcard (hasn't arrived yet) to check it. it worked for 5 minutes and then wen't of by itself. Now if I want to turn it on the orange power light turns red.

I don't know what the hell is wrong.

I've had an Etasis EFN-300 for almost 3 years now and it has been running wonderfully well. I've used it in two different setups:

- Athlon64 3000+ (Venice)
- ASRock 939A8X-M
- 2x512 MiB Kingmax DDR400
- Radeon 9600XT
- 200 GB Maxtor HD
- DVD burner

- Athlon64 4000+ (San Diego)
- Asus A8V Deluxe
- 2x1 GiB Kingmax DDR400
- Sapphire HD3850
- 160 GB WD RE2 HD
- 80 GB Maxtor HD
- DVD burner

In the first setup there was only a 92mm Noctua fan for the CPU and no case fan, the second setup also has a 120mm Scythe as a case fan. In both setups the graphics cards are passively cooled.

I have Etasis EFN-300 for almost 4 years now. No problems, it outlived even my floppy. :)

Great PSU.

I bought my Silverstone ST30NF March 2006 and has been running silently and doing the job until today. I tried powering up my htpc and it was completely dead.

When I then checked the psu, the red led was on (cold psu). Unplugging it from the motherboard and everything else didnt help. Led goes red/amber every time I turn it on... so mine is obviously dead.

Do you think I can have it repaired? I guess the guarantee time is over. :(

I don't remember how long I've owned my Silverstone but it's run silent and reliable all the time. Recently a strange problem has occurred though.
When I turn my computer on it lights up for a second and then dies. Even the leds on the PSU goes black, but if I switch it off for a few seconds it works just fine again. Until the next day when trying to start up again.

I've had my ST30NF running 24/7 for a little over four years and it's just died. The power LED has turned red. I've just bought a picopsu 150-xt to replace it in the hope that the idle power will drop from 60W to the low/mid 50s.

I've sent silverstone an email to see if can be repaired...
