I asked Mike for a title, but what do I get?!

Post by Athlon Powers » Thu Aug 14, 2003 12:06 pm

OK, I asked MikeC for a title in addition to some other things in a Private Message...
Dear MikeC,

Long time no see buddy! How have ya been?

Anyway, i have two questions...

1) Could I be a moderator of the Off Topic Section? It in a way is my home turf...

2) Can I have a Friend of SPCR title? I did start Off Topic in a way and it has been a big success...

Thanks!

Your Friend,
Athlon Powers
But guess what happens?! :(
Hi AP,

1) we hardly have any need anywhere for mods; I shuffle a couple of misplaced posts each week, tell people to calm down sometimes...
2) Those titles indicate "subscriptions" provided in return for donations of $ or articles. Granting you that title would not be fair to all the others who contributed more...

Mike

PS -- I never disliked you. I might have told you to calm down once, but not like? naw...
So as a response...
I thought Friend ment more like benefactor...

Can my personal title be "Court Jester of SPCR?" I dont mind...

Your Friend,
Athlon Powers
...and he replies...
you're welcome to put that in your sig. :)
So in defiance I started this thread!

Dang, now the poll is screwed up. Can a moderator fix the repeated entries?

Is that "fold" as in Poker, or "fold" as in Protien?

Looks like Rusty's "banned" suggestion was the one that everyone was looking for. 73% are voting for it as of right now. :)

For those who don't know what a "court jester" is (non native english speakers like me, for example) :

from this page :
The court jester made his first appearance in medieval courts around 1202. Whether it was March or April, I'm not sure, but it was 1202. Jesters were a lot different back then. They didn't have the sort of nobility that they do now, they were just fools. They did pratfalls, physical comedy, and other things as well as the classic juggling. Many were musicians and acrobats as well. Unfortunately, theirs was not a particularly loved trade, and many jesters were treated badly. Their currently oh-so-cool clothes came about as a result of patching together loose bits of cloth just to make something warm to wear. The jester's lot was not a happy one, and the jester was often the one beheaded when the king had a bad day.
and, in exclusivity, the picture of the OCJ of SPCR, aka AP :

I think it is kinda low to post a private msg or any kind of private email from someone, that would really irk me.

I vote Ban!

Turns out I didn't need to, judging by the voting so far.

I say that if by a week after he started the poll, if it's still a majority vote for banning, then he should just walk away. It is his poll after all. If the vote came out with the majority wanting him to be moderator you know he'd scream like a baby about "The Will of of the People" He started it, he needs to follow through.

I agree with Frosty that it is wrong to post private messages without the other party's permission. (That's why they're named "private") But I wouldn't expect someone like Athlon Powers to know, understand or care about that.

As for him being a Jester..... there's one problem.

Jester's had a job to do, entertain people.

Does anyone find this kid entertaining?

And I know some people are going to say, "What did he ever do? Everybody makes posts that are off topic or not useful sometimes" And I agree with that. You should be able to make posts just to crack a joke, or to interject something off topic. That's fine, in fact it adds interest. But when your whole goal appears to be annoyance, and you have very little of any value to add, then it's too much. Athlon Powers is too much.

Ouch, the way this is going is frightening. :o

As ever, Rusty075 is at my throat. *yawn* "He's" kind of like a bad nightmare that trails you... (The "he" is to avoid breaking Rule #8 or whatever it is. :P)

Aha! So you are saying we by ourselves are a Democracy because we cant do anything to each other? Imagine if Rusty057 had moderator powers! :o I'd be gone in a second! I think I like it the way it is better...

No, I am saying that there's only one voter. Then again, the only difference between a democracy and a dictatorship is the number of voters.

Athlon, I never said I'd ban you. I never even said that I don't like you.

It's the behavior that annoys me. The useless spamming that wastes people's time.

I differentiate the actions and the person. I'm sure you're a lovely person, who will be even better once school starts back up and has less free time to fill.

But you didn't answer my question...if the majority says you should take a hike, will you?

Its like Kirsten Dunst's said, "Its not a democracy, its a cheerocracy." God I love that movie, Kirsten Dunst in a cheerleader uniform, and a bikinni too!!!

Gun? Someone mentioned I have a gun? In a holster? A rack? Or its it more like one of those ack-ack thingies for shooting down planes? Ammo? Where is it??!

Seriously, nothing much to be hopping about here. If you all really felt AP should be banned, you wouldn't even respond, this thread would die from loneliness & AP woiuld just be muttering shuuucks in the corner. As it is, he's obviously entertaining enuf of you to keep this thing alive.

BUt I do have to say that quoting Private Messages is pretty damn cheesy. Nothing I said was particularly interesting. No blackmailable incriminating material, ya know, but it's the whole spirit of the thing...

Bad boy AP! Naughty naughty! Mebbe mommy spared the cane too often...

Speaking of blackmail, I was hoping for some tips. Stalking girls is one thing, but what about hunting down blackmail stuff on 'random' people.

I need it for the howto I'm preparing; how to blackmail F@H onto all university computers for incredible PPD.
