Crap! Tried combo after combo of setting. I've hit the 280MHz FSB wall, like other people with the Biostar 7050-M2. With a 4000+ that's 2.94GHz.
:?

I'm not complaining, but had I know I would have opted for the 4200+ just to get a higher multiplier. I suspect there will not be a "next time".

Oh well, time for the last change; to return to stock speeds and install Ubuntu.

I decided to try SMP again w/ this new fast beast and I've still got 70 minute checkpoints. Stupid SMP client. Maybe I need to turn advmethods or the time limit thing off?

Now I may be wrong here but this "checkpoint" thing has nothing to do with performance but is merely safety feature. If program is stopped it will continue from last saved checkpoint. Thats it. And in graphical clients you can choose self when program will write a checkpoint. I could choose betweeb 5, 10, 15 min and so on. I was using Windows 2000/XP/Vista Graphical client 6.01 beta and there is an option/slider when program will write a checkpoint.
Try it your self.

The checkpoints for the console client are when you have 1% done. So each 1% you complete is 1 checkpoint. It varies based on workunit.
