Holy Jebus! What a great idea! How come nobody's ever thought of this before?

Any reason a 7-volted 80mm L1A wouldn't work in this application? I have plenty of empty PCI slots so that wouldn't be an issue. Might add a stiffener across the top of the cooling card.

would it be better to just remove the fan on the card and duct the other fan so it blows more directly onto the heatsink?

i still say a zalman bracket 165 or similar home-made job is better -- cools both sides of the card. A lot simpler, too, and no loss of PCI slot.

what's the big deal? doesn't look too special to me... in fact little inefficient in my opinion... it takes up an empty pci slot, plus lot of work, plus possible vibrational noise from the board... i don't think it's worth the effort...

if i were you... a good size heatsink and quiet 80mm fan blowing down on it perpendicularly would do the work just as nicely if not better...
