hello everyone,

I've troubles to make these components to work.
When I install the Powercolor HD 2400pro PCI, the screen remains standby and the system wont boot. (only fans, and HD are spinning up)
Video device is set to External PCI and newest bios version 0137 is also flashed.
I hope intel will fix this problem very soon with a bios update Crying or Very sad

Or any other ideas how to get them to work?
The card is ok, it does work with another PC.

Does it boot if you leave the onboard video enabled with the Powercolor plugged in? What operating system are you using?

there are 3 settings for video device: auto, igp and external pci
And none of these settings helped...even the HD doesn't boot WinXP.

The video card is probably drawing too much power.

hmm, i'm using a 300W FSP PSU that should be enough.
My much older a7n8x board has no problems with the card.
Unfortunately the powercolor support in germany is very miserable, you don't even have a submit form...
Intel couldn't help they mean I have to check out the PCI specs from Video card manufacturer....lol I'm not a hardware engineer.

I experienced the same issue. I tried the Hd2400 PCI with my D201GLY2 and got no boot - I believe that the PCI slot does not provide enough power to card, regardless of how big your power supply is. I RMAed the HD2400... going to have to stick with the Geforce 6200.

I've tried underclocking with biosmodding:
http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/1013/TechPowerUp_Radeon_Bios_Editor_v1.07.html

450/400@350/400, 1.1V@0.8V to reduce power consumption.
The card still doesn't work Sad

Did anyone manage to get any success with this setup. I find it hard to believe that a 2400 PRO draws too much power for the PCI bus on this motherboard. I have run a NVIDIA 5200 without any problems and they must use loads more energy than a 2400 PRO

I am running the 512Mb vesion of this card on an ASUS P5K ATX without any problem. However when I tried putting it in an older board I realized that it needs the PCI-E x16 interface. If you are set on keeping that Card I highly recommend you upgrade to a newer Asus card and get the faster memory and CPU that will make this card shine. Just remember it will not give you the same performance as the 2600XT or the 3800 series cards.

...the 5200 is extremly slow, so that you can use the onboard video.

If the ATi 2400 draws too much juice for the PCI slot did you consider altering the clock speeds and/or voltage with an application such as RaBiT so it would use less energy. Also have you any experience with Nvidia 8500GT which you can also get in PCI format. Or would you say that the 6200 is as good as your going to get on the PCI with D201gly front.

The HD2400pro PCI does not support IRQ sharing. On the D201GLY2 the IRQ17 (PCI) is shared with the SATA Controller. You may boot via integrated graphics and just install the HD2400, but the system will tell you "not enough ressources".

Intel just told us not to put a PCI-Express-card into a PCI-Slot... those heros... Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

so far, only my 5200 and the 6200 series seem to work.
