It's not in production yet, but the Evercase 4252 and 4272 (4252 with new bezel)will soon have 12cm in front (made for 80mm but 120 fits) and back. This is official from Evercase HQ.

Btw, Anyone know where to get a all black case not too big in size with 120mm support? Chenbro 611 Black looks most appealing but its hard to find a retailer. If anyone knows of one, let me know.

D8000 from Coolcases.com. It's a SLK3700 clone with a different front bezel. Search here at SPCR for SLK3700 or D8000 or 6A19 and you'll see what people think of them.

The Lite-On FS020 is the only one I can think of off the top of my head.


I've been looking around for one as well, with no luck. Ideally I'd like to find one that not as old-school looking as the FS020, and smaller. More like a big mid-tower, rather than a full tower.

Newegg.com usually has the FS020 but from what I understand they are discontinued so get them while you can.

I'm curious: are there any cases with mounts for a 120mm fan in the front that are not listed here because the rear mounts are for something smaller? With the power supply fan(s) back there too, matched front and rear 120mm fans will not get you "equal pressure." A smaller fan would probably be better.

I've seen a few cases with room for 120mm up front and 80mm in the back. Personally, I like the option of running a slower quiet 120 in the back, and the front 120mm can run a bit faster to maintain positive pressure. I will use a rheostat, different fan models or thicknesses to control this.

One of the main reasons for this post is to list the cases that give us these options. The list has 20 or so cases designed with room for these fans, and I hope other manufacturers catch on and design their cases better. The CPU's don't look like they are getting any cooler in the near future.

The Palo-Alto 810 is another steel entry-server case with great airflow features (bezel, etc.) and options for two 120mm fans (front, back).

Searching around I found these pics. The front fan is only a 92mm however.

Yeah, that's what I found as well.

My bad... the memory must be failing me...but it's still extremely well ventilated case if thats what you're looking for.

Would you consider either adding those to the list or starting a second list? I understand your preference, but I'd love to see a few more options.

There's another Yeong Yang case that has 120mm exhaust and intake: the YY-5601. This is very similar to the Antec Sonata, but with *much* better lower intake and the intake fan is in *front* of the HD frame. They also moved all the switches and ports up the top front corner. Verrry eenterestingg...

Big grills, 120 in the back. Might have potential.

For those unfamiliar FK is a big name in the OEM business. For a time (maybe still) all HP's and Compaq's came in FK cases.

Saw it personally at a show not long ago. It IS impressive in many ways, but those louvers are as ugly in real life as in the pics. And I don't see the point -- doesn't matter whether you're concerned about noise, you always want good airflow, so why allow the vent to be shut?? I'm still looking for an Evercase 4252 style vent bezel on totally topnotch case case.

How about the new Yeong Yang YY-5603? I can't find any reviews or places selling it yet though.

YY-5602 That's based on the YY-5601 but without the louvres. I am *really* interested in this case. It looks like it has a good path for airflow from the front and the CPU duct looks interesting too. The grills are rather open and non restrictive in my opinion.

The new YY is attractive. 2 x 120 and the USB bezel is more unobtrusive than the p160, less garish. Not aluminum. Appears to have a hole in the side.

Quiet PC in the UK is selling the Acousticase C6607 and states the case is not compatible with the Zalman Hard drive Heatpipe Cooler. I would assume that it also holds true for any of the other D8000 cases like 6A19 or SLK3700? Have you any idea why the Zalman HDD cooler ZM-2HC1 is not compatible?

I'm guessing the compatibilty problem comes from attaching it to the drive rails. The drive rails may be situated so that you would need more space above or below where the drive rails (brackets INSIDE the case) sit.

So you would either have to permanently cut out the interior brackets on one level (difficult, maybe impossible), which at the very LEAST would make one of your 5 1/4" bays useless for future upgrades.

I use a SmartDrive 2002, resting on foam, on the bottom of the case. Took out the hard drive cage and I was good to go. Foam/elastic suspension is superior for elmininating vibrational noise anyway, compared to the Zalman HD cooler.

But what keeps the HDD from moving? If you tilt the case as with the Sonata to clean the air filter, what about the HDD moving?
