ATI 9100: Zalman fan bracket and stock HS enough?

They make noise, too.

ATI 9100: Zalman fan bracket and stock HS enough?

Post by Fuzzyhead » Wed Sep 10, 2003 9:10 am

My ATI fan is starting to make a grinding noise. I already have the fan bracket. I was wondering if it would be enough to just have a fan blowing across the card, and use the stock HS. Or would I really need to get a ZM17 or other heatsink?

Thanks!

Probably, since the 9100 isn't exactly a high end video card. But as always YMMV. Measure the temps and see.

I'm pretty sure people have done it to their Radeon 8500 cards...the 9100 is basically a rebranded 8500. Cards like the 9200 have about the same firepower as the 9100 (a little less though, i think) and several come fanless.
