anyone tried this? I live in Scandinavia, where Super Tornados will only become available after CeBit...(yes, I asked :? )

this thing claims 17-19 dbA noise levels. I think I'll try it out, here in Denmark I can always return it within 14 days of purchase for a full refund. It's the law...

Very interesting, thanks for the find!

The nominal voltage rail specs look just about the same as for Fortron FSP350-60PN(PF).

Chill Innovation is active PFC though.

Has anybody been able to find pictures of innards?

BTW, Chill Innovation is owned by Morgen Gruppen A/S, which is a distributor of many computer related goods, not an OEM, afaik.

I doubt that the PSU is of their making, it's probably ordered from Fortron or another big PSU maker. I know they claim it's "Scandinavian design" and whatnot, but that's more likely just marketing BS :)

Then again, if it improves on Fortron FSP 60PN passive pfc series and is more silent, then it certainly warrants testing.

The price at c. 66 euros is not very expensive for Scandinavian market, imho.

Likif, you're probably amongst the first SPCR users to have even the possibility to try this PSU out. Go out and buy one :)

friendly regards,
Halcyon

PS You could also mail them and ask if it supports the new ATX12V 1.3 specification and what is the efficiency of the unit.

Damn, it even looks good!

How many euros? Do they ship within EU?

I would love to see a professional review on this one.

Where did you order it from?

About a review: They seem to be eager to get this product out to the market, i.e. it shouldn't be so hard to convince them to send one to MikeC for a test (if he can find the time).

'Strømforsyning' means PSU in Danish. I'm sure most of these shops would ship to Sweden, and I'm pretty sure www.morgen.dk ships internationally. I think about 7.4 Danish Kroners equals one Euro, so it's about 67 Euro. It's slightly cheaper than a Fortron 350 here in Denmark.

Hej Likif,

I tried that one myself. :? I found it to be somewhat more noisy than my Enermax 460w w/ variable fans. :( Needless to say, I sent the  "innovation" back. I've tried alot of PSUs but the Enermax is the best I've tried so far. Hope you like it though.

 PS. You can find noise control/papst modified Enermax at www.webconsult.dk and cheaper without at www.bsmultimedia.dk. 8)

Ok, here is my report:

Thumbs down. It has a smooth lowfrequency hum, but it's too loud as it is. It's quiet, but far from 'virtually silent'. It's definitely not SPCR quiet...the voltage lines weren't terribly precise either, and that's for a low drain system (factory passive 5200, 1 HD, 1700+ cpu). 3.3v was spot on, though. But it really looks nice...

My Codegen psu is much better. I have found that bending the intake vents 90 degrees along with a 0.1 undervolt of my Palomino has resulted in more rare fan speedups.

I hereby recommend Codegen PSUs for low drain, low budget systems!

hightower, I assume you ditched the 92 mm in your Enermax?

Hey Likif.

Sorry to hear you don't like your "innovation" either. :( And no, I did not ditch the 92mm. Why?
Quote:
The 92 mm unit is surprisingly quiet
from the Quieting the Enermax & other thermistor fan PSUs article. The only thing I ditched was the 80mm globe fan and put in a papst (I didn't cut anything, hence I can put back the globe fan anytime) and connected it using a 7v + 3pin->4pin adapter.

Intriguing. A two fan psu that runs quiet. Well, I've never. I thought the second fan was redundant, just pushing air around, not helping the total airflow. Hum. I'll go look at that article now. I'm in the situation that I want to give my older brother a quiet psu for Christmas, but Seasonic has a bad showing here in Denmark, and Panaflo is difficult to get hold of. Makes things difficult...I don't think a Codegen would cut it, he has a Nvidia 4400 gpu, several hds, and a t-bird of the most energy-consuming kind. I imagine a 120mm psu would fit the bill.

Well.. my Enermax is quieter than a Nexus 4000. Had it home for testing and I was disappointed to say atleast, I expected more from a PSU that was on the 'recommended' list. I think an Enermax 350 would do just fine for him. Forget panaflo, use a papst, they are widely available here in DK and are just as good, if not better. Check the links above and good luck if you decide to give it a try!

Hi Guys,

The Chill Innovation PSU are not made by Fortron. They are produced by a manufacturer that is considered to produce not very high quality products (high RMA rate).

I got this news from someone working at a large builder and he know what goes around...

Will just confirm the above post. The Norwegian retailer have just confirmed that it has NOTHING to do with Forton. I have one of the Chill. Nice look but fluctuations in Vcore. That sucks. Settings in bios is 1.625V and have from 1.55 to 1.60 according to MBM. Don't think it's my mobo.

Dear Sir

I'm eager to hear which Norwegian distr. of the Chill Innovation PSU you have been in contact with.

As far as I know, www.netconnection.no are the only retailer for Chill Innovation PSU and we have not been getting any questiones about the relationship between Fortron and Chill.

Please correct me if I'm mistaking in this.
