I'm looking for a silver colored case, preferably made of aluminum, with room for a front-mounted 120mm or front-mounted dual 80mm fan intake system. I also prefer that it NOT have side windows (they look tacky to me). As for a rear exhaust, I have no preference since my PSU utilizes a 120mm exhaust. (I figure if I have equal intake/exhaust, I my airflow should be well balanced)

Recommendations anyone?

Have You looked at the new cases from Antec? Look at this thread http://forums.silentpcreview.com/viewtopic.php?t=6913

Here is a link to P160 http://www.altech.com.au/web/NEWS/pdfs/p160.pdf

I think that case looks very promising.

the p160 and super lanboy have nice features. front and back 120mm fans. sideways drive bays with rubber grommets like in the Sonata. everything is awesome but the fronts are over-designed. they look cheesy and cheap. why can't they keep the front as simple and clean as the rest of the case. their r&d people should study these photos instead of watching star trek.

I hope lian li gets on the 120mm/silent bandwagon.. their design kicks ass over antec.

Some retailer had a date of "late September" listed for the P160.

A sales manager from Antec told me that the P160 and "Super Lanboy" will come out end of October in France. Don't know for other countries !

SuperLANBOY and P160 should be shipping by late September for the US, unless we run into a problem (customs, etc).

When can we see P160 in Europe? Much later or around the same time?

Normally takes about 3-5 weeks longer. Just depends on what things we have to adjust (manual/box/product itself) specifically for the European market.

Looks like it's been pushed to late October in the US. Should be within a week (2 tops) for Europe and Australia. We're working on getting releases timed closer together around the world.

I would prefer to buy it without fans, that way I can buy whatever fans I want. But I assume it will ship with some fans preinstalled. What 120mm fans will it ship with? Will the fans have adjustable rpm?

AntecRep-

Regarding the new Super Lanboy, and the fact that "electric blue LEDs light up your game"
I was wondering, is the only blue light source from the front fan?
Simply because I am now considering this case too, and I don't want a blue light shinging from it at night - therefore, if I were to replace the front fan, would it be blue-less!?

Kind Regards

Judging from the copy on the promo feature sheet for the P160, the implication is that it will replace the SX-1000 (and variants) series. I am sure AntecRep can clarify this for us.

SuperLanboy: AFAIK it only has a blue LED fan, so swapping that out would get rid of the blue.

Both P160 and SuperLANBOY will not have a PSU. We're figuring that most folks that these are targetted to already have a PSU they like and can handle the extra step of installing it.

We'll get the product info up on our site soon.

P160 will not be cheap...Beyond that I'm not allowed to state pricing at this point.

I will say that the P160 is the first case I've looked forward to owning since the SX830 first came out.

Quite a few places here in Australia already have prices up, while it is the most expensive Antec case from what I gather, it isn't anywhere near Lian Li levels :)

Not that much more than a Sonata, except without a PSU

It's a nice case, but I'd like to see that case done in black-painted steel with chrome accents on the side panel clasps and front intake.

What? Man, I think it looks amazing. I was going to buy the Sonata (almost picked one up today) but this thing has won me over!

I wonder, which would be quieter, this case or the Sonata? Or would they be virtually identical?

i agree. these new antec cases are cheese. they're so wanna-be-mac.. byt totally missing the point. i like the older antecs more.

the new super lanboy is a little better looking than the p160 only because it's a more modest and has less gadget cheese.

it's like with stereos. the fancy sci-fi boom boxes with all the bulges, lights and buttons are totally ghetto.. all cheap and cheesy effects.

the good (and expensive) stereos are usually simple and minimal. it's harder to design simple stuff. the apple g5 is an awesome design. the hushPC's are ok. those giant heat sinks are the shit. so simple and direct. form/function. and all that stuff..

Before I go and change the header of this thread, can you confirm that it is in fact the P160 you have been meaning all along, not the P120 (which doesn't seem to exist, AFAIK)?

Once the P160 is out in stores, swing by and take a look at in person. So far a lot of people who've seen it, think that the pictures we have up aren't doing the case justice. Many like the looks of it in person. (we're taking some additional pictures).

To date no P120 exists, but the family will grow.

I want my computer to be unnoticeable, so no sound or anything. I like the aluminum look, but the front is just too "unsettled" with all the grills and "Chrome front vents for stylish ventilation".

What is the P120? Is it the Super Lanboy?

Personally I think the P160 looks classy. Not overly "busy", just enough to look expensive and powerful. Mind you my current case is pretty much the opposite, just a clean black, no frills case. I was going for the whole “sleeper” design. Nothing fancy outside, but with major power under the hood.

in a fran drescher voice.

the g5 looks expensive and powerful. the p160 looks cheesy and cheap. antec made a little money and paid for some glitzy tasteless design. or maybe they know what they are doing. maybe young males who still think james bond style gadgetry is "classy" will eat this up. i'm sure they are doing the right thing in terms of sales and target audience. but personally i don't think it's classy at all.

but antec deserves props for making the case quiet to the ear if not to the eye.

Chill man, chill. No need for insults or demeaning comments. So you don't like it, (along with a few others) but it seems that the majority of people here do.
I guess, Antec's sales numbers will be the only real way to tell if this is an attractive case or not.
