Silencing an iPod?

Post by Shriek » Wed May 06, 2009 6:05 am

I know I've seen some mention of silencing non-pc items, and I've seen silencing of microswitches in mice, so I wanted to throw this out there--has anyone seen / tried anything on sliencing the clickwheel of an iPod?

Isn't the clickwheel silent anyway? I know it emits a software "click", but that can be switched off.

There are clicks when you press the click wheel to select something.

You can change where the clicks are played in "Settings"

e.g. Headphones, Speaker, Both, None

I frequently repair iPods actually.

On most of em the click wheel can't be taken apart but on the Ipod Video, the click is made by a little silicon/plastic switch like the kinds under your keyboard. It's probably possible to replace these with quieter ones, but I havent tried.

Google click wheel and you'll be able to see it. Unfortunately I can't post a pic because I don't have enough posts yet.
