Passive Socket A heatsink

Post by hyum » Mon Dec 16, 2002 7:21 pm

http://www.noiseless-cooler.de/einbau/einbau.htm

Use google or altavista to translate if German is not your language. Seems to be available now at 129 euros (for full kit, heatsink, "wings" + thermal grease).

You can order optional (velcro + adhesive?) "air guidance wings" to use the rear case fan to "canalize" airflow over the heatsink.

I wonder how effective it really is though, since they say its not approved for T'bred cores, or P4's at all.

Looks like something somebody made in their garage.

I agree with rusty, looks like a Al Tube with a heap of washers attached to the outside if it, good idea to build something like that homemade :D

Do you think that tube is a heatpipe? I can't really tell from the site.

from the translation, it seems to be an evaporator/heatpipe. if you look at the thermal simulations, you'll see that the hotest part of the heatsink is the top.

works for socket a, socket 370, and socket 462. for socket a, site recommends not exceeding XP 1700+ palomino, but i'm sure it all depends on what type of airflow you can provide from the system fans using those funny wings.
