Now Intel has updated Q8300?E5300?E5400?E7400?E7500 and so on. New released processors enable to support VT. E5300 and E7500 with VT support has been listed in Japan.

Thanks for the heads up. It's worth adding that E3200, E3300, E6300, E6500 and E7600 support VT regardless of the sSpec you get.

That's an interesting about turn I wonder if there are any plans for a Q8300s 65W. The E6300 seems like a bit of a backward step being 65nm.

Sorry for the confusion: Intel reused the "E6300" model for the 45nm Pentium Dual Core part at 2.8Ghz. It's a great value right now.

In short, the easiest way to find a newer CPU (one of those listed in the link) is to look for a S-Spec that starts with SLG, the older ones starts with SLB.

Unfortunately not many retailers advertise the SPEC code. Are the E5300's currently available from Newegg, etc SLGTL's?

The e5300 I got last week from newegg is a "SLB9U" with a production date of 06/22/09 that was made in the Costa Rica.

That being said... A few days before I purchased this one the price dropped so I pulled the trigger. A few days after I purchased this one I noticed the price increased. Clearing out the old inventory?

Newegg has demand based pricing. Your purchase may have been the straw that broke the camel's back and caused the price to go up. :D

I'd love to pull the trigger on an e5300 but cannot find a retailer that will guarantee the newer version with VT. May go with the e3300 celery instead.
