Australia: the land of the long red tape.
Gotta love C-Tick. They're looking out for us, unlike in a lot of "less regulated" countries.
You have to wonder why there aren't more Australian PC parts manufacturers out there. We have the capability here. They just have to design (approved for Australian conditions) products here and get it manufacturerd in China. I know of several small companies who do this in other industries. I don't see why we can't do it for PSUs, something which must pass so many regulatory Oz standards.
Power Shield is an Australian owned and run UPS company. They make a very good product for a fraction of the cost of the bigger brand imports (and better quality in many respects than the latter IMO). So it can be done.
