This should allow you to passively cool two graphics cards using one ZM80A-HP kit. It should also work for the ZM80C-HP but I don't own one.

You will only use one heatsink per graphics card, which cools almost as well as both heatsinks from my testing. One heatsink with no fan is more than sufficient for a radeon8500 or gf3 without it getting more than warm. You'll want a 5V panaflo on a high-end card, because you can fry an egg on my 9500pro wether you have one heatsink or two heatsinks. Thus you are not losing anything.

You can also choose to mount that one normally using the short back base, if for example you only have 2 spacers.


be sure to vacuum the long base after this, to remove all metal shards.

I bought one of these for my Radeon 8500 foolishly without actually looking at my card because I read the HP-50 was compatible with it.
Opened my case and there were no screw holes through the board
Was determined to use it so got some thermal epoxy and fixed just one side of the heatsink - bit scary as it's quite heavy but is working fine without any fans so far

I tried this at the weekend.
I got a ZM80C-Hp kit - the newer grey one.
I installed it as you said, however i was a little worried to see only 2 mounting holes from block to heatsink, but hopefully it will be ok.

I installed it on a 64mb Geforce 3, one of the actual reference cards, made by nvidia themselves

Im not into gaming much some im not bothered that much by performance, however i had this card spare and wanted to silence it. I get about 8000 in 3dmark 03.

No crashes yet, although i have only stressed it for bout half hour. Current temp is 40deg c on top of heatsink. Il worry when it gets to 60ish?

And i think i have enough left over to do another card if i want to

I did it myself with a spare gf3ti200. So far I have 4 cards cooled with 2 zalman kits, and 2 spare heatpipes to play with

Despite ridiculous airflow (2 80L@5V exhaust incl. PSU) the card is rock solid.
