Reboot/log-off procedure

Post by unregistered » Thu Oct 30, 2003 3:20 am

running XP pro, didn't find answer in FAQ and forum search

Do I have to do anything before rebooting/logging off or does F@H automatically save at shuttdown and resume at boot up?

Under the Startup tab of MSCONFIG there is an entry (checked) dumprep 0 -k, it this a F@H function? I'm thinking that this preps for reboot/log off.

I just want to make sure I don't loose anything.

You won't loose anything if you reboot/log off normallly. F@H takes care of it.

I've lost few WU (1 maybe 2) and only with disk corruption. Even with a sudden reboot or if the power go off suddenly, you probably won't lost the job done.

I used to worry about that before too BTW :)

Strictly, you will "lose" the interim results of the current frame when F@H is interrupted. However, since each frame takes 3-12 minutes (plus or minus), not much is lost. F@H saves the results *after* the completion of a frame and otherwise keeps everything in memory.

As mormakil mentioned, a disk curruption could seriously compromise your data but then you'll probably have other things to worry about than F@H work.
