The fans of my serenity replica are spinning fast
The Serenity was exactly what I was looking for. But as a swedish citizen I had to build it my self.
I changed some of the spec.
The changes relevant to the noise are:
CPU: i7-870
CPU-fan: Nexus PWM Series 120mm
CPU-cooler: Prolimatech Megahalem Rev. B
Case fans: 2 x Noctua NF-P14 FLX
Everything is running very cool. Both CPU and MB temperature is at 27C when idle. Ambient temperature about 20C. The problem is that the fans are spinning unnecessary fast. CPU-fan 940rpm, case fan 1 and 2 830 and 790 respectively. (The Q-fan settings in BIOS are already in "silent" mode.)
Is there any advise on how to slow thing down a little to make it less noisy?

The Serenity inspired me to build my own (I'm in the UK so I couldn't order one anyway):
- SilverStone Fortress FT02B
- i7 875K
- Gelid Tranquillo
- Gigabyte GA-P55A-UD4
- 8GB Crucial RAM (2 x CT2KIT25664BA1339)
- MSI HD5770 Hawk
- Seasonic X-650
- I replaced the stock 120mm case fan (which was already pretty quiet) with a Noctua NF-S12B FLX running at the middle-speed (can't remember what RPM) which is now dead quiet
- Crucial C300 128GB SSD
- Western Digital 2.5" Scorpio Black 500GB
To say I am unbelievably happy with my system is a huge understatement. Very very happy. Super quiet, super cool -- even when under full load using Furmark and Prime95.
The only indication my system has turned on is the click of the relay in the power supply. I reckon the fan on my power supply hasn't ever turned on (in fact, how can one be confident the fan even works??).

Amazingly, it is a lot quieter.
