Antec Super Lanboy - Casual Gaming Rig

Post by Mr_Spork » Tue Oct 05, 2010 11:48 am

This build was used to satisfy my casual gaming needs whilst being relatively energy efficient, quiet and value for money. Compromises had to be made to ensure these conditions were met, but overall I am happy with it.

Components include:
Intel i3 530 2.9GHz + Mini Ninja (fanless)
Gigabyte H55M-UD2H
G-Skill Ripjaw 2x 2GB DDR3 1066MHz
MSI N460GTX Cyclone
Cooler Master Silent Pro M Series 600W
WD Blue 500GB 3.5"
Antec Super Lanboy Case

Due to money constraints I could not purchase quieter components I had wished for (Fanless Seasonic, SSD...) but it does give room for future upgrades. Right now the loudest component in the rig is the WD hard drive and I was surprised that the 460GTX much quieter than the HDD at idle operation. During gaming load the GTX is surprisingly quiet although it still has the audible characteristics of a 90mm fan. In the future I'm looking to buy a fanless HSF for the GFX card and purchase an SSD when the price is wright. One day I'll have a fanless gaming rig!

Are you sure about the CPU temperature?
I ask because first I monitored with HW Monitor, but the Gigabyte tool of my mainboard showed 10°C more, in HW Monitor it was one of the obscure temp names instead of core temp.

vv Ah, I use Easytune6 too.

It's what I get using EasyTune6 from Gigabyte :/ It is pretty cold up north where I live in the UK and this will probably be lowering the temps a bit.
