I'm considering the CM-690 II Lite Dominator (not listed on CM's site but I presume it's just another name for the CM-690 II non-Advanced), but I see the main problem appears to be the thin panels and the numerous holes/vents/mesh.

My plan would be to remove the drive cage, suspend my one (possibly increasing to two) drives from the 5.25" drive bays and use two bottom mounted intake fans and one rear exhaust fan, so I'd block the side, front and top vents. I was thinking of sticking a vinyl floor tile on the side and top panels and maybe some foam behind the front panel. Would that substantially improve the case, or should I just keep looking for something else. I really like bottom mounted fans, so ideally I want a case with a removable drive cage and room for two (filtered) bottom mounted fans.

I'm currently running a custom-modded case with a single bottom mounted 120mm and an 80mm exhaust, but I haven't fitted my TRUE rev C or modded my Powercolor 6950 yet, so that's still using the rather noisy dual-fan cooler it came with. Even when modded, it will still have a fan or two, just quieter ones, so I'm sure it will be supplied with enough air by a single bottom intake fan, and the other one (which will be under the suspended drives), will blow some air onto the drives and provide some air for the TRUE and the rest of the motherboard above the 6950.

I'm my opinion, it's a low quality case because of thin metal but sure, with vinyl and foam while removing the sucky HDD bay it should be almost as quiet as any case, depending on your cooling and hardware of course. Why not mod a Nexus Prominent 9 instead?

Thanks, but that Nexus case only has one bottom fan and it's too much hassle cutting another hole. Besides, whilst the drive cages are removable, the supports are not and would get in the way. It also seems to sell for about £20 more than the CM 690 Lite.
